Martin Hanssen is attached to NIBR’s Department of Housing and
Environmental Planning Research, and the Governance
research priority area. Martin Hanssen has studied government
processes subject to the Planning and Building Act and been
involved in projects exploring central government control of local
government planning under the Planning and Building Act via
national guidelines, and attention paid by local planning
authorities to a range of constraints and requirements. The focus
of his research, nonetheless, is the environmental impact
assessment of land use plans and development-related measures under
the Planning and Building Act, regulations, processes and content
of feasibility reports. He has also studied the practical use of
environmental impact assessments that do not fall within the scope
of the Planning and Building Act.
