Housing and Environmental Planning Research
Work at the department stems from studies of the Norwegian planning system including the Centre of Planning and Environmental Impact Assessment , as well as studies devoted to housing research and urban development and place research.
The department focuses on these core research areas:
Environmental planning research:
Central themes include studies of the Planning and Building Act as a policy instrument, and planning processes as means of promoting growth. The municipality as a player and arena of economic growth is an important thread running through in our research.
Housing research:
Within housing research we study the housing and property market, and the impact of housing policy on social and economic integration of vulnerable groups. We conduct studies of housing policy, housing standards and sustainable housing.
Urban development and place research:
The department also works in the area of urban and semi-urban development. Place studies explore the social, cultural and economic environment in small communities, small towns and peripheral zones around major cities.
