Inger-Lise Saglie has a degree in architecture from the Norwegian Institute of Technology, 1976, and a PhD from Oslo School of Architecture (1998). She works currently with the environmental planning research group at NIBR. Planning, urban development and environmental issues are central themes in her research. She has practical experience of town planning and projecting building developments. Inger-Lise Saglie is particular interested in sustainable urban development, and particularly how a compact urban form can possibly contribute to this. Her PhD concerns density in urban planning ideologies and the way densification in urban areas are experienced by inhabitants and neighbours. Her current project is on adaptation to climate change in urban areas. Her research also covers use of knowledge in planning, particularly use of place and morphological analyses as sources of knowledge and the help they can provide for drafting necessary action plans
