Rolf Barlindhaug is attached to the Department of Housing and Environmental Planning Research. He gained extensive experience in housing studies while working as a researcher at the Norwegian Building Research Institute before moving to NIBR in 2006. Rolf Barlindhaug has a degree in economy from the University of Oslo (1978), and his research interests include housing market analysis, evaluation of housing policy instruments, surveys of housing and living standards, migration, housing preferences and housing careers, and migration and wealth management among the elderly. Housing market analysis includes studies of property financing, behaviour of developers and urban building site markets. Rolf Barlindhaug has helped build a housing market model which predicts house prices and investments in the property market under various economic and demographic conditions. He has studied and reported on property financing and resident satisfaction with newly built homes. In recent years he has worked with Norwegian Social Research on subjects such as shared custody of children, exploring in particular living conditions and how parents that practice shared custody cope financially.
