Kjetil Sørlie has a degree in demographics from the University of Oslo (1972), and works in the regional research group. He has worked for many years on issues relating to regional demographics and migration. He works closely with Statistics Norway, particularly in connection with analyses based on the bureau’s person migration data, which he has combined into residential and migration histories of all persons in the country since 1964. The data contain every person, annual information on education, work, business, workplace municipality, family situation, income and benefits, as well as ethnic status where relevant. He has presented analyses on habitation and migration patterns and demographic change in several publications and lectures. He has published Regional demografi (Regional Demography – Tano Aschehoug 1995), an introduction to regional demographic analysis. More recent analyses based on the migration history data include “Bosetting, flytting og regional utvikling” (Habitation, Migration and Regional Development) in Frønes and Kjølsrud (eds), Det norske samfunn (Norwegian Society – Gyldendal 2003).
