Berg-Nordlie (formerly Berg) has a bachelor degree in Russian studies from the University of Tromsø, and a master degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Oslo.
He is employed at NIBR's Department of International Studies, and mainly works with Russia, the Caucasus and Eastern Europe. His main focuses are on ethnicity, indigenous peoples, minority/indigenous rights and conflict.
