Aasland, Aadne

Aadne Aasland is attached to NIBR’s Department of International Studies. His current research interests include living conditions, social development, social policy and migration in Russia and the Baltic states. He is currently engaged in projects on HIV/AIDS prevention in Russia and local government reform in Ukraine. Aadne Aasland has published extensively on ethnicity in the Baltic region, and the topic of his PhD thesis is Russian ethnic identity in Latvia. He has considerable experience in conducting and analyzing large-scale social surveys. They address themes such as social inclusion and exclusion in Nepal and Guatemala, and informal networks and corruption in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe.
